LOVE this quilt...you are an awesome mom for making this and I'm sure it will be a treasure for her especially when she is away! One quick question...can you clarify for me if you put the elastic thread on the bobbin and use regular thread on top? And what size/type needle did you use?
Hi Shelle, and thanks! Yes, I should have clarified that part. When you're stitching the arches, you'll use elastic thread in the bobbin, and regular thread on top. Then of course you'll switch to regular thread in the bobbin after you're done with the arches. As far as the needle goes, I used a machine embroidery needle, size 90/14, mostly because that's what I had on hand, but it did the trick.
Let me see if I understood: you stitched the arches and the elastic thread is what shirres them, right? It's only one layer of fabric (the top) and then it attaches to the bottom, to make the quilt, right?
Hi Monica, and thanks! Yes, you're exactly right, and with a layer of batting in between. I think that's what makes this quilt a little easier to put together, because you're not actually having to quilt three layers together. Once I got the fabric dyed, I was able to put it together in less than a week. Gotta love that!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This is awesome! I've spent lots of time looking at the pictures on Anthro's website trying to figure out how it's made, and you've explained it so well.
